Vanessa comes to visit Usnavi the day before he’s supposed to leave for the Dominican Republic. The two sing “Champagne” as they struggle to open a bottle in a cute scene. The real kicker comes when Vanessa finally plants a kiss on Usnavi but sadly admits that she’s too late.
In Miranda’s musical “Hamilton,” Ramos was in a dual role, playing both the abolitionist John Laurens and Hamilton’s son Philip. “In The Heights” is a very kinetic film, and Ramos sings, raps and dances, including in some exuberant, big production numbers.
With ‘In the Heights,’ Jimmy Smits Sings a Little but Gave It a Lot. He doesn’t have a musical theater background, so he worked hard to make one line — “Good morning, Usnavi” — ring out. Now that’s how he’s being greeted.
He can sing and he does have decent technique but he doesn’t have the best voice tone-wise, at least by Broadway standards. He’s more of an actor who sings, and he does that job well – REALLY well.

7 Nina’s Mom Was Cut From The Movie
The musical shows Nina’s mom helping out with Kevin Rosario’s cab company and even gives the character a musical number “Enough” when Nina and Kevin are fighting about Stanford.
“Inútil” would have presumably occurred shortly after Nina’s first solo, “Breathe,” and before “No Me Diga.” The film’s creators likely cut the song for pacing and not overload the ensemble-driven plot with too many backstories.
soprano Add to list Share. … A woman who sings at the highest register is one kind of soprano, and her singing voice itself can also be called a soprano. Sometimes high-voiced male singers are described this way too, although it’s more common to call them countertenors, or to describe their singing voices as falsetto.
Something euphonious sounds beautiful and pleasant. “You have a euphonious voice!” is a great compliment for a singer. This word sounds pretty when you say it, so it makes sense that it describes something pleasing to the ear.
melomaniac (plural melomaniacs)
When you sing, lots of muscles & organs have to work together. If you don’t practice, you won’t develop the physical strength or muscle memory to maintain or strengthen your voice. You won’t lose your voice entirely, but the quality will suffer unless you work hard to recover some of what you’ve lost.
Voice disorders affect the ability to speak normally. These disorders can include laryngitis, paralyzed vocal cords, and a nerve problem that causes the vocal cords to spasm. Your voice may quiver, be hoarse, or sound strained or choppy. You may have pain or a lump in your throat when speaking.
Their chemistry on stage as both friends and father and son (Anthony pulls double duty in Hamilton as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton) is one of the best parts of the musical and demonstrates just how close the pair got over the course of their year on the show.
Lin- Manuel Miranda, who wrote the musical, said in a tweet celebrating their engagement that Ramos kept “sneaking glances” at Cephas Jones during the table reads.
It was probably Leslie Odom, Jr., who played Aaron Burr in the original Broadway cast. He has a beautiful traditional singing voice, and last year I actually went to see him in concert; he was terrific. Among the women I would choose Renee Elise Goldsberry, who played Angelica Schuyler.
Also, all of the ensemble vocals on the Tony Awards are pre-recorded and are lip-sync’d on the telecast. The only live vocals are those of the lead actors.
