Buddy the Elf, portrayed by Will Ferrell, is 6’3” (1.91 m) tall. Buddy the Elf grew up in the North Pole. He knows he is different from the other elves – he is much taller and doesn’t have the same speedy working abilities. But Buddy loves Christmas more than anything.
Eyes, Lips, Face
The Oakland-based company (whose name stands for Eyes, Lips, Face, in case you were wondering) was founded in 2004 by two beauty obsessives who wanted to create affordable makeup after they noticed that there were often expensive cars parked outside of 99-cent makeup stores.May 4, 2016
Fun fact: Producers wanted to feature the famous Macy’s 34th street location, the largest store in the world, but Macy’s refused to have their name used. So they settled on Gimbels, a now defunct NY department store–the exterior was shot at 5th Avenue and E 30th St and decorated with CGI.
In 2020, James Caan, who played Buddy’s biological father in the movie, discussed what went awry with the Elf sequel on radio station 92.3 The Fan, suggesting that it fell apart because Ferrell didn’t get along with Elf director Jon Favreau. “The director and Will didn’t get along very well,” Caan said.
Luckily, Ferrell didn’t have to eat actual cotton balls while filming these scenes. It was revealed in a 2020 E! … The “Elf” star did, however, eat all of the candy we see his character consuming throughout the movie.
Written by David Berenbaum and directed by Jon Favreau, Elf was the holiday hit of the year, taking in more than $200 million worldwide, and earning equal praise from critics (it’s Certified Fresh at 84%) and audiences (it sports a 74% Audience Score).
Zooey Deschanel
Jovie is the love interest of Buddy and later wife in 2003 comedy movie, Elf. She is played by Zooey Deschanel.
So why did she sport blonde hair in the movie? It turns out, the timing of her Elf audition coincided with her dying her hair for a role she didn’t get. “What is funny is I had dyed my hair for a screen test for a movie that never happened,” she told Variety in 2018.
Deschanel made her on-screen singing debut in The New Guy (2002). In Elf (2003), she sings “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” with Will Ferrell in the bathroom shower scene, “Auld Lang Syne” with James Caan on piano and with Leon Redbone on the soundtrack.
Parents need to know that although Elf has some potty language and mild swearing (“pissed,” “hell,” “damn,” etc.) and a few references to bodily functions, it’s family friendly at its core.
“Elf” is considered a holiday staple and fans have long wondered why the popular film doesn’t have a sequel. “I would have had to promote the movie from an honest place,” Ferrell said, “which would’ve been, like, ‘Oh no, it’s not good. …
Ferrell said he was offered $29 million for his involvement in the film, but he turned down the offer because it would have been inauthentic for him to sign onto a film with a premise he didn’t like. “I would have had to promote the movie from an honest place, which would’ve been, like, ‘Oh no, it’s not good.
Humphrey is the Chief Elf who runs Santa’s workshop as he’s in charge with his elves. He supervises his elves to make toys and other stuff for Christmas.
WF: No, we didn’t have a big enough budget, so I actually had to eat old New York City gum. But it wasn’t as bad as you would think, still relatively favorable.
Papa Elf
Papa Elf is a character from the 2003 Christmas movie, Elf and is Buddy’s adoptive father. Papa Elf is first seen in the beginning when baby Buddy arrives at the North Pole after crawling into Santa Claus’s sack. Since he had never settled down and had children, Papa Elf adopts him.

As much as fans and possibly the whole world would go absolutely crazy for an Elf sequel, Ferrell’s decline comes from a place of immense integrity. When reading the script for the sequel at the time, Ferrell simply thought it was poorly written and overall not a project that he wanted attached to his name.
The scene when Buddy eats different candies and pastries with the spaghetti noodles had to be shot twice, because Will Ferrell vomited the first time. … Will Ferrell suffered from headaches throughout filming, as he had to actually eat all of the sugary foodstuffs in the Elf food pyramid on camera.
“Treat every day like Christmas.” “There’s room for everyone on the Nice List.” “We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup.” “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”
