Jaws was filmed at several beaches. For filming locations, Jaws film crew relied mostly on State Beach, one of the biggest beaches on Martha’s Vineyard and the setting of the famous shark attack scene at the beach.
The movie never really suggests that Amity Island is in any specific state, just saying that it is a northeastern seaside town.
SeaWorld Orlando
It was filmed at SeaWorld Orlando, a landlocked water park; and Navarre, Florida, a community in the Florida Panhandle near Pensacola.
Although the original Orca vessel which was the star of the movie was accidentally destroyed, the Cricket II met a better fate and is alive and well in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Speaking of real sharks…
The production flew in a 13-foot tiger shark caught off the coast of Florida to use for the scene where the townspeople string up a shark on the dock thought to be the shark. The real life locals were unable to catch a shark that big, but flying one in had its problems, too.
Though the film takes place in the fictional town of Amity Island in New York, it was actually filmed throughout Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. (Long Island was considered “too busy” — the filmmakers wanted an island that would feel eerily empty to filmgoers.)
There is no definitive source for “Martha’s Vineyard” but it is thought to be named for the mother-in-law or daughter, both named Martha, of the English explorer Bartholomew Gosnold, who led the first recorded European expedition to Cape Cod in 1602.
Jaws 2 cost $30 million to produce, three times more than the original film. Real hammerhead sharks circled the teen actors during the filming of one scene. Because their characters were meant to be in distress, the crew, filming from a distance, did not realize that the actors were genuinely calling for help.
The rest of the film was shot in the Emerald Coast region of the Florida Panhandle, just east of Pensacola. Most of the exterior shots in “Jaws 2” were filmed in Navarre Beach and the nearby towns of Destin and Okaloosa Island (via The Daytona Beach News-Journal).
The first shark killed on the docks, which is supposed to be the “man-eater” in the movie, was actually a real shark killed in Florida since there was not a big enough one in Martha’s Vineyard.
Captain Quint played fast-and-loose not only with his ship, but with all three of the men’s lives. It should be noted that Quint had been in the “sharking” business for 30 years. He had hunted and killed everything from Hammerhead, Mako, Bull, Tiger, and yes, even Great White Shark. “Porkers,” he’d refer to them.
Martha’s Vineyard
The location he chose for fictional Amity Island was our very own Martha’s Vineyard. The filming was intended to be wrapped up in 55 days but instead dragged on for 159 days!Feb 25, 2019
42-foot-long
The working Orca was a 42-foot-long former lobster boat dubbed the Warlock that Alves had found near Marblehead, Massachusetts. The white boat was repainted in burgundy and black and accessorized with a pulpit and oversized windows, the better for a casual audience to identify it as a formidable shark-hunting vessel.

Quint puts three harpoons attached to barrels into the shark, and the shark drags the barrels underwater.
Footage of real sharks was shot by Ron and Valerie Taylor in the waters off Dangerous Reef in South Australia, with a short actor in a miniature shark cage to create the illusion that the sharks were enormous. During the Taylors’ shoot, a great white attacked the boat and cage.

The period of time between events differs. In the film, 4 years have passed between the death of the first shark and the events in Jaws 2.
Amity Island is a fictional island located off the coast of New England, and is the main setting of the Jaws franchise. … The island is also infamous for its series of horrifying and fatal shark attacks.
The conclusions likely elicited a collective sigh of relief across America: Sharks have never in fact gone rogue like Jaws did, but instead almost always bite a human as a result of other environmental factors at play. In reality, the likelihood of being attacked by a shark is extremely slim.
In the twilight of July 1, 1916, 25-year-old Charles Vansant bled to death in a beachfront hotel in New Jersey. Several men had pulled his maimed body from the water. Five days later, bellhop Charles Bruder, 27, was killed during an afternoon swim along the Jersey Shore.
“As is their yearly tradition, the Obamas are on summer vacation on Martha’s Vineyard, or, as it’s more commonly known to locals and visitors, ‘The Martha,'” the article, written by Dayna Evans, states.
