Breaking someone’s spirit is often done by physical, mental, emotional or sexual abuse – or by all of these methods. When a person’s spirit is broken, they often feel they aren’t deserving of joy, or they may have even totally lost all hope or desire for happiness; it’s a feeling of total emotional defeat.
Broken people are the ones who end up hitting their spouses, being abusive, being serial cheaters, or even raping others. They are people who have big problems that hurt other people leaving them in emotional distress.

With a spirit of humility, leaders recognize that they will likely fail, but that their perseverance allows them to stand back up after the fall and move forward with confidence. Humble leaders are modest about their success, and make it known to everyone that their failures don’t define them.
So what constitutes as a soul trauma? Any physical, emotional, mental or spiritual experience that has created a chaotic or dysfunctional impact on your energy field that is creating imbalance or chaos in any way. For some this can be a single traumatic life event.
Can a broken person be fixed? Yes– broken people can absolutely move towards healing and wholeness. However, they are the only ones who can move in this direction. Broken people have to be willing to work to process their past experiences and challenges and become emotionally healthy.
Broken Woman Syndrome can be described as a woman who has unresolved issues with the men in her life (father, grandfather, brother, uncle, former lover, etc.), and finds herself going from relationship to relationship in hopes of escaping her brokenness.
A “nervous breakdown” or “mental breakdown” is a term used to describe a period of intense mental distress or illness that occurs suddenly. During this period, you’re unable to function in your everyday life. This term was once used to refer to a wide variety of mental health conditions, including: depression.
It’s been said that when a man lets in his series of multiple relationship failures, it’s possible he’ll succumb to a dark, desolated and emotional abyss. He has found himself detached to the love around him. He’s emotionless. That’s when we say a man is broken.

Being broken is a gift, because when we are broken, we recognize the need for a Savior to make us whole. There’s a reason that the sacrifice Jesus asks of us is a “broken heart and a contrite spirit.” A broken heart is one that is open to Him, that lets in His grace.
‘Poor in spirit’ is an odd phrase to modern ears, outside religious circles anyway. The traditional explanation, especially among evangelicals, is that it means people who recognise their own spiritual poverty, their need for God. Blessed are those who mourn is taken to mean people who repent and mourn for their sins.
Being poor is neither a sin nor a punishment. God is not interested in how much money we earn.
