The date of birth of Jesus is not stated in the gospels or in any historical reference, but most biblical scholars assume a year of birth between 6 and 4 BC.
Why Is Easter Celebrated in Spring? According to the Bible, Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection occurred at the time of the Jewish Passover, which was celebrated on the first Full Moon following the vernal equinox. This soon led to Christians celebrating Easter on different dates.

Why is Greek Orthodox Easter on a different date? Eastern Christianity recognises a different date for Easter because they follow the Julian calendar, as opposed to the Gregorian calendar which is widely used by most countries today. Great Britain changed to the Gregorian calendar in 1752.
Christians can celebrate birthdays. There is nothing in Scripture that forbids it, nor is there any reason why celebrating birthdays could be considered unwise. Christians should feel free to celebrate their birthday in a God-glorifying way.
Christmas is tied to a solar calendar, which is what we use in most of the world (the “ordinary” Gregorian calendar, used everywhere in Europe and America, is tied to the Sun and the seasons). Easter was originally tied to a lunar calendar. It’s not connected to the seasons, but to the phases of the Moon.
The ecclesiastical rules are: Easter falls on the first Sunday following the first ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or after the day of the vernal equinox; this particular ecclesiastical full moon is the 14th day of a tabular lunation (new moon); and the vernal equinox is fixed as March 21.
When Passover Is About American Slavery
Both holidays are supposed to fall on, or near, a full moon in the spring. Passover always begins on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan. Because the Hebrew months are pegged directly to the lunar cycle, the 15th day of Nisan is always a full moon.
