To move an icon or a widget, long-press it. Eventually, the icon seems to lift and break free. You can drag a free icon to another position on the Home screen or to another Home screen panel, or you can drag it to the Trash icon that appears on the Home screen.
Tap and hold until you see your icons jiggle, and then tap the screen slider. When you see all of your screens, tap, hold, and drag a screen to a different location in the grid. As you do this, you’ll see the other screens move out of the way.
Change the settings of a widget.
Press and hold a widget on your home screen, and drag it to the Settings app. The widget screen will then appear where you can customize the widget to suit your taste. In some Android models, single-tapping on a widget only opens the widget screen where you can customize the widget.
To move the widget around the screen or to another screen, just long-press it until it starts to shake and then move it where you want it. If you want to get rid of the widget, long-press to bring up a remove option.
To change the icons on the bottom dock, press and hold the icon. Then drag icons onto or off of the dock.
Quickly reorder your iPhone, iPad home screen
Start to drag one of the app icons to an empty spot on your screen. With your finger still on the app icon, start tapping on the rest of the apps you want to relocate. As you tap on the icons, your iPhone or iPad will create a stack of apps that you’re moving.
To arrange your apps alphabetically, on your iPad, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout. This will make your first page default to the original Apple apps. Beginning on the second page, your apps will appear alphabetically.
You can’t resize them, but you can replace them with bigger versions: Tap and hold a blank area of the screen, tap the plus icon at the top left, and choose a new icon in the size you want. Then dump the old widget by tapping and holding it and choosing “Remove Widget.”

From your home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the phone to open your app drawer. Tap on the three-button menu at the top right of the search field. Tap on Sort. Tap on Alphabetical order.
