Mix the Colors
Begin by mixing the blue and green food dyes into the base that you wish to color. To make a turquoise shade, add 3 drops of green food coloring to every 5 drops of blue food coloring.
A cool, bluish shade of green, like phthalo green is also a good place to start. For a basic teal shade, begin by mixing a 50/50 ratio of blue and green paint with a palette knife. To lighten and brighten your teal color, you can then begin to add a touch of white paint to the mixture.
Mixing Your Paints. Create a basic teal from which to work from. Mix 2 parts blue paint, with 1 part green, and ½ to 1 part yellow.
To create teal, combine blue and a very small amount of yellow. This will create a blue green, a sort of turquoise. Then add a touch of orange, just a whisper! This will quiet the color.
