Neither version is better than the other, overall; they’re just different. Since 7.1 is newer though, Squarespace is focusing mostly on adding features & updates to 7.1, rather than on 7.0, including the ability to have up to 10,000 shop products and nested categories in your shop, –which is a HUGE new feature.
Squarespace doesn’t have auto-save or revision history features when editing, so content lost or deleted in the following situations can’t be restored in Squarespace: If the browser is accidentally closed while editing. If the browser or device closes, crashes, or reloads while editing due to power or network issues.
7.0 is not going anywhere. In fact, Squarespace are still updating it with the latest and greatest changes. Like the new on/off button that is now a line with a circle. They confirmed that they will keep updating 7.0 for as long as it makes sense and they will continue to support it indefinitely.
