Thicket Excavations is a large quarry filled with dirty water. Find Sully hanging around the quarry, and speak with him to initiate the quest. Sully will ask for help fixing some pipes in the water so he can drain the quarry. … Take the Rad-X then either jump in the water or use the lift.
Sully Mathis wants to unblock some underwater pipes at the Thicket Excavations. The pipes can be located by finding the bubbles on the surface and swimming down (water is irradiated, 10 per second). Each pipe can be fixed by simply turning a yellow valve located on the pipes.

Just so everyone knows: Yes, you CAN drown in Power Armor.
There is no cure, but barriers can prevent exposure and some medications may remove some radiation from the body. Anyone who believes they have been exposed to radiation should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Failing that, there are ways to become effectively immune to radiation (power armour w/ lead shielding and mysterious serum work, as do other gear and perk combinations), but due to the way rad resistance works, you can’t become absolutely immune to radiation.
Thankfully, there are tons of random chairs and sleeping bags lying all over the wasteland. Simply head up to any of these and sit down, and the ‘Wait’ option will appear, allowing you to pass time in the game.
While you can safely abandon Power Armor almost anywhere and later return to reclaim it, your map only tracks the last suit you left behind. So take note on where you leave your suits, or for convenience, just drop them off in settlements.
