Image Editing #
Just hit the Crop button in the toolbar. An expanded toolbar will appear. This will allow you to zoom an image. There are also options to set the aspect ratio, such as to crop the image into a square.
Next, you need to click on the image that you want to edit. A window will pop up, and you should see the Edit Image button under the photo. When you click on the Edit Image button, another window will appear where you will find simple photo editing options like crop, rotate, and flip.
To shrink the size of your image in WordPress, click on “Edit Image” in the Attachment Details section on the right. Under “Scale Image” type in the new width you want to use in the little white box and click on the blue “Scale” button.
Open your file, Select Tools > Adjust Size. Set your width first. For this example, I set the width at 504 pixels, but you’ll notice that makes the height 336 pixels. And that’s how you crop and resize to a required dimension.
If you’re sure you would like to restore an image, click on the image in the media library, select Edit, then choose the Restore Original button. The image will then revert back to its original form.
Here you can change width and height for the thumbnail, medium, and large image sizes. WordPress will then automatically create scaled versions of each image using these sizes. You can choose which size you want to insert from the WordPress editor.
Why WordPress Generates Multiple Image Sizes
Put simply, WordPress automatically resizes images to help you save bandwidth and prevent you from having to manually resize images. For example, the image size you would use for a thumbnail is much different than what you would use for an image slider on your home page.
To keep the resolution while cropping the image, click on the Image pull-down menu and select Image Size. A new window will appear that shows you the size and resolution of your file. Make note of the size and resolution (in this case our file is 300 dpi). Click OK to exit the window.
It is possible to add or remove columns. To do so, click outside the box, between the box and the sidebar then change the number of columns (up to six). Once you have defined the number of columns, you will want to add content to each column.
The new WordPress Block Editor Gutenberg includes a columns block. To add a multi-column layout, you need to create a new post or edit an existing one. Once you’re in the post edit area, click on the ‘Add’ icon on the top to add a block. Next, you need to select the ‘Columns’ block located under ‘Layout Elements’ tab.
Mouse over a module to display its toolbar, then click Edit Column > Reset column widths. If the options display a hamburger icon, click that, then mouse over Edit column to reveal the settings.
The Crop Tool is used to crop or clip an image. It works on all the layers of the image, visible and invisible. This tool is often used to remove borders, or to eliminate unwanted areas to provide you with a more focused working area.
1200 x 628 pixels
A good starting point for your WordPress featured image size is 1200 x 628 pixels. These dimensions tend to work well across WordPress themes and page layouts, and also look good when shared on social media feeds.Nov 9, 2021
There are two main reasons why your images may be showing up blurry on responsive WordPress sites. The first reason is basically a user (or developer) error. The second reason is not your fault; it’s just the way the device was made, using a retina, High Definition (HD) screen display.
