Because Moleskines have a large-ish pricetag, compared with cheap spiral notebooks or staples notepads, they tend to be taken care of more — which means that when you need it, it’s not under the sofa, out in the car, or lost who-knows-where.
The sleek and sophisticated design looks good on my desk, it’s a convenient size to keep on my desk, and the elastic band closure keeps everything in tidy. The “lay flat” design is a lifesaver when on the phone or computer and the ribbon bookmark also makes it easy to find the next blank page.
Perhaps not yet, but Moleskine seems to be trying really hard to become unhip. True, the notebooks are durable, they have the backing of the late Ernest Hemingway and Vincent van Gogh, and they’re even “vegan.” (They’re made from cardboard and oilcloth and not from dead moles.)

What is the length of a notebook? In the United States a “regular size spiral bound notebook” is generally 10.5 inches long. But like most things, this is not always the case. The Five Star Wirebound College Ruled1 Subject Notebook measures 7 inches tall by 5 inches wide.
Durable hardcover looks great and resists scuff marks and scratches. Notebook is the classic A5 size (21.0 cm x 14.8 cm, 5-1/2 inches x 8 inches).
The problem is that the Moleskine notebook only has 16 perforated pages at the end of the journal. … Each journal has a unique ID number. If you register it, and it is found, whoever found it can return it to you.
You might consider using the styles that have perforated pages. I find cutting is a better method because no matter how you tear, the style of binding gives you a jagged edge. So cut with scissors or a razor. I have also experimented with removing the stitched binding on the paper Cahier notebooks.
The paper inside of your notebook has to be recycled separately, whether you’re disposing of spiral bound or hardcover journals. You can then throw it all into the curbside bin.
“There’s nothing more satisfying than a Moleskine journal,” enthuses illustrator and designer Nate Kitch. “They feel so durable in your hands and their paper stock has a really nice texture. … “Moleskine notebooks absorb inks and markers really well without bleeding,” he enthuses.
Extra Thick Moleskine Notebook has twice as many pages as the original. The expanded version of the classic black Moleskine notebook has 400 pages and 2 ribbon bookmarks to capture and keep track of more ideas than ever.
