If you are looking for portability in a laptop, a 13 inch device is the perfect option. Everything that a 15 inch laptop does, can be done in a 13 inch version as well. For browsing, writing or programming, a 13 inch laptop is perfect.
If you are only shooting videos to be seen on your TV or maybe over the Web on your computer, then the 13-inch laptop may be OK. But if you want them to be seen on a 60-inch TV, you need a larger monitor so you can see how your work will look on a larger screen.
Thinking size isn’t important
A smaller ultrabook may be a viable option for frequent travelers, but for those looking for a standard laptop, you’ll probably want to opt for one with a 13.3- or 14-inch screen. If you rarely leave your home with your system, consider a 15.6-inch model for maximum screen real estate.
For different screen size and aspect ratio, you can replace the numbers inside the formula. A screen of 15.6 inch means it is having the diagonal length of 15.6 inches. Most of the laptops come with a display having 16:9 aspect ratio.
A 14″ or even a 15″ are best for work; but they are not great from a portability perspective. If you are only going to be using it for browsing / movies / entertainment – a 11.6 inch would be ok.
To measure a laptop screen size, take a measuring tape and start measuring from the bottom left of the laptop screen diagonally to the top right of the laptop screen. That is your laptop size.
8GB RAM. Most people with a moderate budget ($500 or more) for a laptop should aim for at least 8GB RAM. We generally recommend this amount of memory for most people doing office work and other basic tasks, as well as gamers—especially if you’re looking at a model with soldered RAM and can’t upgrade it later.
12 inch laptops are very portable and for the most part have longer battery life. I’ve had a 15, 14 and 12 inch laptops. My last 2 have been 12. You can go to your local shop (best buy, walmart, compusa, etc..) and play around with them.
Small laptops, also known as subnotebooks and ultraportables, are lightweight mobile computers with small dimensions and small screen sizes ranging from 10.1 to 13.3 inches. They usually weight in at 2 – 3.5 pounds, approximately.
Most modern monitor screen sizes range from less than 21 inches to well over 30 and are practically priced for your needs.

Well no laptop is too big or too small. It’s all preference. If you are aware of the size and footprint of a 17″ laptop and you’re okay with it then get it! Personally, I would go with a screen that size because I feel like gaming on a smaller screen could prove difficult.

These days, 8GB of RAM is plenty for most college students. If you can avoid it, we recommend avoiding laptops with 4GB of RAM unless you are on a budget.
If you need more than 60GB, I’d recommend going for a 256GB SSD, for reasons that will be explained in the next section. In the long run, it will save wasting time on disk management. Of course, it is better to have 256GB than 128GB, and larger SSDs perform better.
A screen size of 10 inches was always considered to be perfect for a full-sized tablet device. However, the growth of 12-inch tablets made them mid-sized but their popularity did not fade. The display is smaller than that of laptops but sufficient to perform all the tasks a laptop can do.

Most users will only need about 8 GB of RAM, but if you want to use several apps at once, you might need 16 GB or more. If you don’t have enough RAM, your computer will run slowly and apps will lag. Although having enough RAM is important, adding more won’t always give you a substantial improvement.
It depends on what you call too small. It’s a 13 inch laptop and it has several options for screen scaling. If you go one lower you’re actually at the screen’s native resolution so text is definitely sharp there.
